Technical competence
Environmental permits in England and Wales require permitted waste operations to be managed by a technically competent person. The CIWM/WAMITAB Operator Competence Scheme, through the Certificate of Technical Competence (CoTC), is the main route to demonstrating this, and competence has to be maintained through the continuing competence scheme. Mentoring can make the difference for a manager working towards their certificate while running a site.
Qualifications and experience
HNC Waste Management; WAMITAB Level 4 Certificates of Technical Competence in hazardous waste treatment (4TMH) and hazardous waste transfer (4TSH); Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Management; technically competent manager responsibility for hazardous waste storage facilities; waste management consultancy including training, assessment and internal quality assurance.
