The legal position
Under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, employers must ensure that everyone who uses work equipment has received adequate training, including in the risks involved and the precautions to take. Recognised training and assessment is the clearest way to evidence that, and it also gives operators a qualification they can carry with them.
